ESCUELA PREPARATORIA  OFICIAL  ANEXA A LA NORMAL NO. 1 DE TOLUCA

ELECTROMAGNETISM PROBLEMS : Application of magnetic induction and types of coils.

Instructions: Read and apply the equations of electromagnetism to solve problems.

1. The area of a rectangular  loop is 100 cm2 and the plane of the loop makes an angle of 40° with a 0.28 T magnetic field. What is the magnetics flux penetrating the lopp?

2. A coil of wire 30 cm  in diameter is perpendicular to a 0.5 T magnetic field. If the coil turns so that it makes an angle of 60° with the field, what is the change in flux?

3. A constant horizontal field of 0.5 T pierces a rectangular loop 120 mm and 70 mm wide. Determine the magnetic flux through the loop when its plane makes the following with the B field : 0°, 30 °, 60 ° and 90 °

4. A flux of 13.6 mWb penetrates a coil of wire 240 mm in diameter. Find the magnitude  of the magnetic flux density if the plane of the coil is perpendicular  to the field.

5. A rectangular loop 25 X 15 cm is oriented so that its plane makes an angle θ with a 0.6 T B field. What is the angle θ if the magnetic flux linking the loop is 0.015Wb?

6. A proton ( q= + 1.6 x 10-19C) is injected to the right into a B field of 0.4 T directed upward . If  the velocity of the proton is 2 x 106m/s, what are the magnitude and direction of the magnetic force on the proton?

7. An alpha particle ( +2e) is projected with a velocity of 3.6x106m/s into a 0.12 T magnetic field. What is the magnetic force on the charge at the instant its velocity is directed at an angle of 35° with the magnetic flux?

8. What is the magnetic induction B in air at a point 4 cm from a long wire carrying a current of 6 A?

9. Find the magnetic induction B in air 8 mm from a long wire carrying a current of 14.0 A?

10. A circular coil having 40 turns  of wire in air has a radius of 6 cm and is in the  plane of the paper. What current must exist in the coil to produce a flux density of 2mT at its center?

11. A solenoid of lenght 30 cm and diameter  4 cm is closely wound  with 400 turns of wire around a nonmagnetic material. If the current in the wire is 6 A, determine the magnetic induction along the center of the solenoid.

12. A circular coil having 60 turns a radius of 75 mm. What current must exist in the coil to produce a flux density of 300
µT at the center of the coil?

13. A circular loop 240 mm in diameter supports a current of 7.8 A . If it is submerged in a medium of relative permeability 2.0, what is the magnetic induction at the center?

Remember to translate and solve them in your notebook with the whole process of calculation.
